Identify Patients At Risk in Minutes

Autonomic Nervous System testing is a quick, clinically powerful and non-invasive assessment that uncovers hidden medical risks. In less than 15 minutes identify clinical autonomic disorders and uncover major illnesses and health risks, including sudden death, silent heart attack, coronary artery disease, cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN), diabetic autonomic neuropathy (DAN), peripheral artery disease (PAD) and others.

Testing of the autonomic nervous system is a recommended standard of care by the American Diabetes Association for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. It is also recommended for any patient dealing with chronic medical conditions, since hidden risks tend to develop over time do to the presence of long-term disease.

One focus of testing is peripheral nerve health. Generally, a quick Sympathetic Skin Response (SSR) test can be performed in just a few minutes, to assess the health of a patients’ peripheral nerves. In some more advanced cases of nerve damage, a QSART (Quantitative Sudomotor Axon Reflex Test) can be performed to analyze more sweat gland function. This requires very specific, advanced technology, such as the SudoCheck.

Not All ANS Equipment is Created Equally

There are a few devices out on the market that perform both ANS and Sudomotor Testing, but not all are compliant. There are LCDs and insurance companies that view ANS or sudomotor testing as experimental or not medically reasonable and necessary under certain circumstances. However, successful testing and reimbursement of ANS and sudomotor testing is simple and reliable, and occurring all over the country, when using compliant technology. Not all products on the market meet the specifications required by the CPT codes and the AMA. For instance, the QANS uses a 3-Lead EKG, while other systems might just get an ‘EKG rhythm’ from a pulse oximeter, which is not the same.
